From collecting rocks as a little girl to becoming a visual artist and Reiki practitioner, my journey has been intricately woven with the magic of these natural wonders.
Around 2006, seeking relief from migraines and insomnia, I turned to yoga and meditation. Little did I know, this would be a pivotal moment in my life—a spiritual awakening that awakened and deepened my connection to crystals. Despite initial disbelief and skepticism, I embraced my ability to feel their subtle vibrations, discovering a profound source of healing and insight.

Mariestella Colón Astacio, a painter based in the greater Atlanta region, originally hails from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her artistic journey began at the San Juan League of Art Students and the Central School of Visual Arts in Santurce. In 1988, she won a prize in the National Talent Search Award of the Pratt Institute in New York, setting the stage for her academic pursuits in the United States. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute in 1992 and furthered her education with a Master of Arts from New York University in 1994, through an exchange program held in NYC and Venice, Italy.
Mariestella’s work has been showcased in exhibitions worldwide, including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico in Santurce, the Museo de Las Americas in Old San Juan, PR, La Galería de Arte USC in Santurce, PR, the Masur Museum of Contemporary Art in Monroe, LA, and Tomorrow’s Stars at Verge Art Fair in NYC. She has actively contributed to the art community, serving as a board member of NurtureART Non-Profit Inc. from 2002 to 2007. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in establishing the NURTUREart Gallery and Emerging Curators Resource Center in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Mariestella is a dedicated mother to 6 children and a loving wife. She is a Certified Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance, boasting certifications in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, and Adaptive Sequencing in Yoga. Committed to lifelong learning, Mariestella continually expands her knowledge and expertise, striving for excellence in her teaching practice.
As a creative director and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in NYC and Atlanta, Mariestella has spearheaded numerous projects across various industries. From designing patents and building businesses to crafting impeccable web and graphic designs, she brings a sense of potentiality and wonder to every endeavor. Mariestella’s passion for beauty and great-functioning design shines through in her work, elevating brands and institutions to new heights through innovative visual concepts and original ideation. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a keen eye for detail and a commitment to exceeding client expectations, leaving a lasting impact on the creative landscape.
